Lolly Willowes

“Women living and growing old, as common as blackberries, and as unregarded.”
~ Sylvia Townsend Warner
This work is my tribute to the fictional character, Lolly Willowes, created by Sylvia Townsend Warner in her debut novel of the same name.
This original multilayered linocut print has been digitally reproduced as an edition of posters on A3, 250gsm Unicorn White paper, made from 100% genuine de-inked post consumer waste.
Each poster has a white border of at least 3cm.
This edition is sustainably sourced and made from recycled materials.
Each print is signed, stamped and editioned.
'Lolly Willowes is a satirical comedy of manners incorporating elements of fantasy. It is the story of a middle-aged spinster who moves to a country village to escape her controlling relatives and takes up the practice of witchcraft.'
~ Brian Stableford, " Re-Enchantment in the Aftermath of War", in Stableford, Gothic Grotesques: Essays on Fantastic Literature, 2009.
