This print depicts an Ancient Northern British Celtic Gneiss Stone Female Figure of a Goddess, perhaps Brigantia. The original statue has been dated 2nd-3rd Century, and she stands around 65cm tall.
Her large head with characteristically Celtic oval eyes, and an upturned slit mouth give a subtle smile. Her small arms and tiny hands gesture towards her abdomen, where she appears to place her hands in a front pocket or pouch.
Dangerous Coats
Someone clever once said
Women were not allowed pockets
In case they carried leaflets
To spread sedition
Which means unrest
To you & me
A grandiose word
For commonsense
Fairness
Kindness
Equality
So ladies, start sewing
Dangerous coats
Made of pockets & sedition
